septoplasty
i am having a septoplasty, along with a few other corrective sinus surgeries, performed a few days before christmas this year.
according to my cat scan, all 8 of my sinus cavities are...well, messed up. i have a severely deviated septum, my turbinates are swollen and i have a few polyps.
i still don't know exactly how they're going to go about correcting all these problems. all i know is that because they have to do so many things, i have to wear some sort of helmet with electrodes in it to help guide them around my head. this proves that even during surgery, i am going to be a total dork.
HOLY CRAP! i just google image
searched "septoplasty" and found this picture and now i am freaking out. grossssssssssss.
i also am not a fan of going under general anesthesia. i just always think that they will mess up on the amount and i will wake up during surgery.
life is scary sometimes. even though this is a routine procedure for deviated septums/sinus issues, i am still terrified because i've never had surgery before (other than wisdom teeth extraction).
the surgery is going to be 2-2 1/2 hours long and the recovery time will be 2 or more weeks. yay for a bandaged, medicated and painful christmas.
